Your estimates, our published prices

    Utility inspection ROI calculator

For electricity, water and municipal utilities: count the substations, transformers, line sections and pump stations your crews inspect, then put the time you expect to save next to what Inspecable costs. The cost comes from the pricing page; every saving is your own estimate. An estimate, not a quote.

The assets you would register (sets the cost)

Total: 90 assets at R80 each a month. Register what you inspect as a unit; a pole only needs its own record if it gets its own inspection.

Your crews and office (sets the cost)

Your inspections today (sets the saving)

Your estimate of the time saved

These two figures are yours to set. They start at 10% and 50% only as a cautious placeholder: a phone does not make the drive to a substation or the walk down a line any shorter, so most of any saving is in the paperwork. They are not measured Inspecable results. If you can, time a few of your own inspections and report runs and use those numbers.

    Inspecable, per month

    R9 500

Time saved, per year, on your estimate

    R156 450

447 hours at R350 an hour: 135 from inspections, 312 from reports and admin.

    01The method

Every number traces back to our prices or your inputs

    Cost

    • Assets = substations + transformers + line sections + poles + pump stations, as you counted them
    • Per month = field users × R150 + admins × R250 + assets × the asset rate
    • Asset rate: R80 up to 200 assets, R75 above 200, R70 above 500, on every asset
    • Year one = 12 months + R15 000 onboarding

    Saving (your estimate)

    • Inspection hours a month = inspections × minutes ÷ 60
    • Admin hours a month = weekly hours × 4.33
    • Hours saved a year = 12 × (inspection hours × your inspection share + admin hours × your admin share)
    • Value saved = hours saved × cost of an hour

    Payback

    • Monthly net saving = value saved ÷ 12 − monthly cost
    • Payback = onboarding fee ÷ monthly net saving
    • If the monthly net saving is zero or less, it does not pay back at these inputs
    • Travel time, outages avoided and audit findings are left out: put them in your business case in your own terms
    02Questions

    About this calculator

How does the utility inspection ROI calculator work?

It is arithmetic on your own numbers. Monthly inspection hours (inspections × minutes ÷ 60) are multiplied by the share of inspection time you estimate you would save, and weekly admin hours × 4.33 by the share of admin time you estimate you would save. Both shares are your estimate. They are not measured Inspecable results.

Where does the Inspecable cost come from?

The pricing page: R150 per field user and R250 per admin per month, plus R80 per asset per month (R75 above 200 assets, R70 above 500, on every asset). Year one adds the once-off R15 000 onboarding fee. Prices exclude VAT and assume monthly billing.

Should every pole be an asset?

Only if you inspect and report on poles one by one. Many utilities register a line section or feeder as the asset and record pole defects against it. Count what you would actually inspect as a unit, because each registered asset is billed per month.
