Looking for an inspection app that still works when your crews are underground or on a remote plant with no signal?
The Inspecable field app for Android saves inspections, issues, incidents, observations and toolbox talks on the phone with no signal, and syncs them while the app is open.
Offline Inspection App for Mines and Plants: Full Android Walkthrough | Inspecable
This walkthrough covers the whole app in the order you meet it on a shift: first run and the offline warm-up, Home and My Day, running an inspection where a failed item raises an issue on the spot, QR labels, issues and risk rating, safety reports, assets and SpecBot, documents and training, and, on the Operations plan, work orders, jobs, clocking in and the fitness check. A few things need signal: the QR lookup, notifications, training progress and the final PDF. Use the chapters to jump to the part you need. Recorded from the field app in a live demonstration organisation.

Introduction
This is the Inspecable field app for Android, the part of Inspecable your people carry. In the next few minutes we will go through every part of it, in the order you will meet them on a shift. Use the chapters to jump to the part you need.
Before your first shift
Install Inspecable from Google Play. It runs on Android 7 and later. Sign in with the invite your administrator sent you. On first launch, the app explains why it asks for your location and camera. Location is only used while you are doing a task, never in the background. Then open the app once with signal. In the first minute it keeps a copy of your assets, checklists and open work on the phone, so the day carries on underground.
Home and My Day
Home is where every shift starts. At the top, the status chip tells you whether you are online and how many records are waiting to sync. The weather card leads with a verdict for where you are standing: safe to work, take care, or hazardous. Below that are your shift, who is on site, and your work for the day: inspections, jobs, work orders and tasks, each with a button to start or resume. The round button at the bottom right is the quick way in. Scan QR Code finds an asset from its label. New Issue reports a problem. Safety opens the safety reports. All three are one tap from anywhere on Home. At the bottom of Home, My Day lists everything due today, with an Anytime today group for work with no set time. The tabs along the bottom change with your plan. On Safety and Compliance you will see Inspections, Issues and Safety. On the Operations plan, as here, you will see Inspections, Jobs and Work Orders. Everything else is under More.
Inspections
Inspections lists your organisation's inspections, newest first. Search by name, asset or inspector. Tap a started one to carry on where you left off. A Pending Sync badge marks a record that has not reached the server yet. To start one, tap New Inspection, search for the checklist and tap Start. You will only see checklists you are allowed to run. Your administrator builds them on the web. The screen you work through depends on the checklist. It might be a quick pass and fail list, a form with sections and logic, readings with limits that warn you near the edge, star ratings, a photo-first check, or a document check. Your progress saves after every answer. When an item fails, the app raises an issue on the spot, linked to the inspection and the asset. Add photos, a video or a document to any item as evidence, even with no signal. Finish with your signature, and the inspection is complete. Open it to see every answer, photo and comment. The report is made on the server as a PDF. Offline, you can open a preview marked as a preview, and the final PDF follows when you sync. The separate video on inspections shows every step.
QR labels
Every asset can carry a QR label. Scan it from the quick button or the start screen, and the app offers to view the asset or start its inspection. A checklist can have its own walk-up QR code too, so anyone can start the right inspection at the machine. The scan needs signal to find the asset.
Issues
Issues lists open and resolved problems, including ones you reported offline that have not synced yet. To report one, pick the asset, give it a title and a description, choose low, medium or high, and add photos or video. It saves on the phone first. Open an issue to see where it stands and what happens next. Assess risk rates it on your organisation's risk matrix, even offline. When the work is done, mark it resolved. Assigning it to someone happens on the web.
Safety
Safety holds the reports people make on the ground: an incident or near miss, a safety observation, a toolbox talk, and drill attendance. Your organisation chooses which of these are switched on. Below them are your own incident reports, so you can follow what happened to each one. Report Incident asks what happened, the type and severity, where it was, and who was affected, with photos and video. The location is added for you. With no signal it says it is saved offline, and it goes up when you are back in coverage. The investigation is run on the web. A safety observation records good or unsafe behaviour by category, such as PPE or housekeeping. A toolbox talk records the topic, who attended, and the key points. Drill attendance lets each person sign on the phone. Signing needs signal; offline, attendees are asked to sign by email later.
Assets and SpecBot
Assets lists your organisation's equipment, with search and a make filter the phone remembers. Up to five hundred assets are kept on the phone for offline use. An asset's page has its timeline, its details and its documents. From here you can start its inspection, report an issue, or see its past inspections and work orders. SpecBot answers questions about this asset from its own manuals and history. Here, the question is about transmission fluid leaking from the breather, and the answer comes from the troubleshooting sheet loaded for this machine. Offline, SpecBot shows the last summary it saved for the asset.
Documents and training
Documents holds your organisation's procedures and forms, by category, with search. A document you open with signal stays readable offline, and if a newer version is approved, the old copy is not shown. Scan Document, under More, turns paper pages into a PDF with the phone's document scanner, and saves it to the library when you have signal. Training shows the courses assigned to you: in progress, not started and completed. Work through the lessons, take the quiz, and claim your certificate from the Certificates tab. Training needs signal to save your progress.
On the Operations plan
On the Operations plan, Work Orders lists the maintenance work, with filters. Open one to read it, add comments, and sign it off: what was done, with photos, the parts used, and the customer's sign-off. All of it works offline. Jobs shows the field service jobs assigned to you. Start the job, follow its checklist, record parts and time, and complete it with the customer's signature and yours. Inventory shows the stock in your van, lets you issue a part, and requests more from the warehouse. Clock records the start and end of your shift and your breaks. At clock in, the fitness check looks at your medical fitness, your certificates and licences, and your required training. It passes, warns, or blocks, and a supervisor can override. Clocking in works offline too. Who's on site lists everyone clocked in, by zone, for a muster. For crews without their own phones, a shared tablet can run in kiosk mode, locked with a PIN, so each person clocks in at the gate.
Working with no signal
Here is what works with no signal. Inspections, issues, incidents, observations, toolbox talks and work orders all save on the phone, and photos on inspections, issues, incidents and observations wait there too. A few things need signal: finding an asset from its QR label, notifications, training progress, and the final PDF. The phone sends its saved work while the app is open. It does not sync in the background, so open the app when you are back in coverage. Watch the chip at the top as the signal drops. It switches to offline, Home says it is showing saved data, and your lists are still there. When the signal comes back, the chip shows the sync, and anything that could not be sent waits in a list with a retry button.
Your account
Notifications, in the menu, lists what needs your attention: tasks, inspections, issues and work orders. Tap one to open it. The Preferences tab chooses what shows here. On Android the app can also alert you on the phone, and tapping the alert opens the record. More holds your profile and every feature your role and plan allow, as tiles. Edit Profile changes your details, turns location sharing on or off, and has the field manual to download, in English and Afrikaans. Video tutorials opens this series.
Recap
So: Home and My Day show the day's work. Inspections, issues and safety reports save with or without signal. QR labels, SpecBot and documents put the asset's history in your hand. And opening the app with signal sends it all up. Next, watch a full inspection done on the phone, start to finish. Every tutorial is on our website, linked on screen now.
