Inspecable vs Mitti (SafetyCulture) vs GoCanvas: a sourced comparison

Table of Contents
Why this comparison exists
We are biased: Inspecable is our product. We also think a buyer who knows where a competitor is stronger makes a better customer than one who finds out after a failed rollout. So this page states only what each vendor's own site, pricing page and help documentation said when we read them on 5 October 2026, and it says where each one may be the better fit before it says where we are different.
One update since this post was first written: SafetyCulture rebranded to Mitti in August 2026. The app stores list it as Mitti (by SafetyCulture). We use both names.
The three, in their own words
Mitti (SafetyCulture, iAuditor)
"The operations system for every site, shift and standard." Inspections and checklists, training, actions, issue reporting, documents, assets, lone worker, sensors and a public API, with a library of 59,216 free templates. Priced in US dollars: a free plan for up to 10 seats and five active templates, Premium at USD 24 per seat per month billed annually. Offline on the mobile app only, with inspections pre-downloaded within a storage window that defaults to one week.
GoCanvas
"Real-Time Field Data & Operations Platform." A mobile forms builder with more than 30,000 pre-built forms, more than 1,000 named integrations, dispatch and scheduling on the entry plan, and PDF reports sent by email. Part of the Nemetschek Group since 2024. Priced in US dollars from USD 29 per user per month with a three-user minimum, billed annually. Forms can be completed offline and uploaded later; new forms and assigned dispatches reach the device after a sync.
Inspecable
Safety, inspection and asset management software for South African mines, process plants, manufacturing sites, utilities and heavy-equipment fleets. Android app and web dashboard. Priced in rand: R150 per field user and R250 per admin per month, with a 14-day trial on the Safety & Compliance edition. The Operations edition adds work orders, job cards, dispatch, parts and time and attendance and is switched on by Inspecable.
Side by side
Working with no signal
- Inspecable: inspections, incidents, near misses and toolbox talks run on the Android app with no signal after one online warm-up, and sync when the app is opened back in range.
- Mitti: inspections, actions, assets, documents, issues, reports, schedule and training work offline on the mobile app; analytics, notifications and the template editor do not. Inspections must be pre-downloaded.
- GoCanvas: forms can be completed without coverage and submitted on reconnection. A sync is needed before a new form or assigned dispatch reaches the device; credentials re-validate every 24 hours by default.
All three capture an inspection underground. The differences are in what else works there, and what must be fetched first.
After a failed item
- Inspecable: a failed step raises a tracked issue with a due date on the spot, offline. Closure is refused without a method, evidence and a signature, enforced in the database, and the closer cannot be the assignee.
- Mitti: actions can be raised from an inspection, assigned, and worked offline. Its pages do not describe evidence or a signature being required to close one.
- GoCanvas: workflows route a form between users on the Pro plan; follow-up tasks are on the Max plan. Its pages describe no corrective-action register.
Scheduling
- Inspecable: assign a checklist to a named person with a due date; they are emailed, it shows on their My Day list, and it is marked overdue if it slips. An assignment can repeat daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually, and completing one creates the next.
- Mitti: a schedule feature that works offline on the mobile app.
- GoCanvas: dispatch and scheduling on every paid plan.
If scheduling across a team is the thing you need most, look closely at both of the others: Inspecable repeats an assignment to one named person, and that is the extent of its scheduling.
Templates
- Inspecable: your own checklists. Import an Excel, PDF or a photo of the paper form and AI turns it into a checklist you review before it goes live. No public library.
- Mitti: 59,216 free templates with a Mining category, and a template editor on the web.
- GoCanvas: a drag-and-drop form builder and more than 30,000 pre-built forms.
Records the regulator will recognise
- Inspecable: a legal register seeded with MHSA or OHS Act obligations, clause-level conformance for ISO 45001, SANS 3000-1 and the MHSA, an AI check of a completed inspection against the MHSA corpus with a person confirming each finding, and a hash-chained history per inspection you can verify. Permits to work on the web that cannot go active until every signatory has signed and every isolation is verified by a second person.
- Mitti and GoCanvas: neither names the MHSA, the OHS Act or a South African regulator on the pages read. Mining appears on Mitti's site as a template category; GoCanvas names construction, manufacturing, field services and logistics.
Platforms and price
- Inspecable: Android and web, rand pricing, API and webhooks on request.
- Mitti: iOS, Android and web, a public API, US dollar pricing with a free plan.
- GoCanvas: iOS, Android and web, more than 1,000 integrations, US dollar pricing with a three-user minimum.
Where each one fits
Choose Mitti if you want an iPhone app, thousands of ready-made templates, a free plan to start on, or training, documents and lone-worker tools on the same platform.
Choose GoCanvas if your need is forms across many departments, dispatch in the entry plan, or integrations with Salesforce, Procore, NetSuite or QuickBooks.
Choose Inspecable if you run a South African mine or plant and need the finding, the action and the evidence connected, offline, in rand, with records the inspector of mines will recognise.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between SafetyCulture and GoCanvas?
SafetyCulture, trading as Mitti since August 2026, is an operations platform built around inspections and checklists, with actions, training and documents alongside and a library of 59,216 free templates. GoCanvas is a mobile forms platform with more than 30,000 pre-built forms, over 1,000 named integrations, and dispatch and scheduling on its entry plan. Both run on iOS, Android and the web and are priced in US dollars.
How much do SafetyCulture and GoCanvas cost?
At the time of writing, on 5 October 2026, Mitti (SafetyCulture) offered a free plan for up to 10 seats and five active templates, and Premium at USD 24 per seat per month billed annually. GoCanvas started at USD 29 per user per month on its Essentials plan, billed annually with a three-user minimum. Neither showed a rand price; Inspecable charges R150 per field user and R250 per admin a month, plus from R80 per asset, excluding VAT.
Do SafetyCulture and GoCanvas work offline?
Both do, with conditions. Mitti (SafetyCulture) works offline only on its mobile app, covering inspections, actions, assets, documents, issues, reports, schedule and training, but inspections must be pre-downloaded within a storage window that defaults to one week. GoCanvas forms can be completed without coverage and submitted later, but a new form or an assigned dispatch reaches the device only after a sync.
Who should choose Inspecable instead of SafetyCulture or GoCanvas?
A South African mine or plant that needs the finding, the action and the evidence connected, offline, and priced in rand. In Inspecable a failed item raises a tracked issue on the spot, closure needs a method, evidence and a signature, and the legal register is seeded with MHSA or OHS Act obligations. Mitti or GoCanvas suit teams that need an iPhone app, a large ready-made template library or many named integrations.
