Inspecable vs Mitti, the product most people still call SafetyCulture or iAuditor
A SHEQ manager at a South African mine or plant has usually tried iAuditor on a phone, liked it, and then hit the question of what happens after the checklist: who owns the finding, what the inspector of mines will accept, and what it costs in rand. SafetyCulture rebranded to Mitti in August 2026. This page compares the two from Mitti’s own pages, read on 5 October 2026.
Where Mitti (SafetyCulture, iAuditor) may be the better fit
An iPhone app and a huge template library
Mitti runs on iOS and Android and publishes 59,216 free templates, with a Mining category. Inspecable is Android and web only, and ships no template library.
Integrations and a free plan
Named connectors for Geotab, Samsara, Workday, SAP and others plus a public API, and a free plan for up to 10 seats. Inspecable integrations are custom work, quoted on request.
Breadth on one platform
Training, documents, assets and schedules also work offline on their mobile app, with lone-worker, sensor and broadcast features on top. Inspecable does not have those.
Where Inspecable is different
What happens after a failed item
A failed step raises a tracked issue with a due date on the spot, offline, and the action cannot be closed without a method, evidence and a signature. Mitti describes actions; its pages do not describe enforced closure.
Records the inspector of mines will recognise
A legal register seeded with MHSA or OHS Act obligations, clause-level conformance for ISO 45001 and SANS 3000-1, and an AI check of a completed inspection against the MHSA corpus. Mining appears on Mitti’s site as a template category.
Per-user pricing shown in your own currency, and a South African team
R150 per field user and R250 per admin per month, billed in rand through Paystack. Mitti bills in US dollars with no rand option shown.
What each one does, as its own pages describe it
| Area | Inspecable | Mitti (SafetyCulture, iAuditor) |
|---|---|---|
| Working with no signal | Inspections, incidents, near misses and toolbox talks run on the Android app with no signal and sync when the app is opened back in range. One online warm-up first. Web dashboard for the office. | Full offline on the mobile app only: inspections, actions, assets, documents, issues, reports, schedule and training. Analytics, notifications, the template editor and library need a connection. Inspections must be pre-downloaded; the default storage window is one week. |
| After a failed item | A failed step raises a tracked issue with a due date on the spot, offline. Closure is refused without a method, evidence and a signature, enforced in the database, and the closer cannot be the assignee. | Actions can be raised from an inspection and assigned, and work offline. The pages read do not describe evidence or signature being required to close one. |
| A record you can hand over | Every inspection carries a hash-chained history of sign-offs and amendments you can verify from the dashboard or the phone, plus a signed PDF per inspection and a ZIP export by date range. | Reports generated per inspection, including offline. The pages read do not describe a verifiable history of sign-offs and amendments. |
| South African compliance | A legal register seeded with MHSA obligations or an OHS Act pack, clause-level conformance for ISO 45001, SANS 3000-1 and the MHSA, and an AI standards report that checks a completed inspection against the MHSA corpus with a person confirming each finding. | A horizontal product for frontline teams in manufacturing, facilities, hospitality, construction and retail. Mining is a template category; no MHSA, OHS Act or South African regulator is named on the pages read. |
| Permits to work | Permits to work and lockout on the web dashboard: a permit cannot go active until every signatory has signed and every isolation is verified by a second person, and cannot close with a lock still on. | Not described on the pages read. |
| Checklists and templates | Your own checklists. Import an Excel, PDF or a photo of the paper form and AI turns it into a digital checklist you review before it goes live. No public template library. | 59,216 free public templates, with a Mining category, and a template editor on the web. |
| Platform | Android app on Google Play and a web dashboard. No iPhone app. Integrations are custom work, quoted on request. | iOS (4.7 from about 32,000 App Store ratings), Android and web. Named integrations plus a public API. |
