Inspecable vs AssetPool: asset inspections, and what happens after the checkpoint

AssetPool comes up when a service company or a plant already tracks asset condition with it and then asks what happens after a failed checkpoint, whether the safety side of the site fits, and who holds the contract and the data. AssetPool relaunched as AssetPool Nova in September 2026. This page compares the two from AssetPool’s own pages, read on 9 October 2026.

    01Credit where it is due

Where AssetPool may be the better fit

Flat pricing with unlimited users and a free plan

Nova is priced per operation, not per user: Freemium at USD 0, then USD 28, 125 and 290 a month, with unlimited users on every paid plan. A site with many people and few inspections pays one platform fee; Inspecable bills per user.

An iPhone app and an asset-health model

AssetPool runs on mobile and web, with iOS as well as Android, and scores condition, compliance and risk separately per asset with a “No Data” state for anything not yet inspected. Inspecable is Android and web only and blends open issues, overdue work and inspections into one health ring.

Familiar South African logos and a local distributor

The home page shows the logos of Old Mutual, Takealot, Fidelity Services Group and Balwin, South African contracts run through AssetPool (Pty) Ltd, and prices are shown in USD, ZAR, CAD and GBP. Buyers in services and facilities will know the name.

    02The difference

    Where Inspecable is different

What happens after a failed checkpoint

A failed step raises a tracked issue with a severity-based due date on the spot, offline, and closure is refused without a method, evidence and a signature. AssetPool’s pages describe condition and compliance states per asset; they do not describe a tracked action with a due date.

The safety side of the site, not only the asset

Incidents, near misses, toolbox talks, permits to work, a legal register seeded with MHSA or OHS Act obligations and clause-level ISO 45001 conformance. AssetPool is asset-centred, and no regulator or standard is named on the pages read.

    Exports and a verifiable history

A signed PDF per inspection, a ZIP export by date range with an index spreadsheet, and a hash-chained history on every inspection. On Nova, PDF and CSV report export was “not available yet” at the time of reading, and the pages describe an audit trail but not tamper evidence.

Working with no signalInspections, incidents, near misses and toolbox talks run on the Android app with no signal and sync when the app is opened back in range. One online warm-up first. Web dashboard for the office.Offline mode is listed on every plan including Freemium, and the Play listing says inspections work in remote areas or underground without a connection. The pages read do not say whether issues or documents sync offline, or whether data must be pre-downloaded.
After a failed itemA failed step raises a tracked issue with a due date on the spot, offline. Closure is refused without a method, evidence and a signature, enforced in the database, and the closer cannot be the assignee. Each asset carries a condition (Functional, Caution, Defective), a compliance state (Current, Overdue, per checkpoint) and a risk rating, measured separately. The pages read do not describe an issue with an owner and a due date raised from a failed checkpoint.
A record you can hand overEvery inspection carries a hash-chained history of sign-offs and amendments you can verify from the dashboard or the phone, plus a signed PDF per inspection and a ZIP export by date range.A full audit trail and a lifecycle timeline per asset, with documents held against the asset and their own expiry dates.
