Looking for a permit to work system where work cannot start until every isolation is verified?
In Inspecable, a permit cannot go active until every nominated signatory has signed and every isolation is verified by a second person, and it cannot close while a lock is still on.
How to Run a Permit to Work System With Lockout/Tagout Isolations | Inspecable Tutorial
This web dashboard tutorial covers the permits register, requesting a permit (validity window, site, work location, reason and PPE), the seven permit types every organisation starts with, from hot work to crane lifts, and how an administrator configures them, then the permit page: Print PDF, signatories, lockout/tagout isolation points applied with a photo and verified by someone else, hazards and controls, and close-out. Permits are on the web dashboard only, not in the Android app. Recorded in a live demonstration organisation.

Introduction
In this video you'll see how permits to work run in Inspecable: requesting a permit, who has to sign it, how isolations are locked and verified, and the checks that stop work starting before it's safe.
The permits register
Permits are on the web dashboard, in the Safety Hub under Permits. They're not in the Android app. The register lists each permit's number, title, type and status, its validity window, and who requested it. A permit moves from awaiting approval, to approved, to work in progress, and it can be suspended and resumed. Every permit opens on its own page, so you can see exactly where it stands and what it's waiting for.
Requesting a permit
Request Permit asks for a title and the permit type. Where the type sets a default validity, the end time fills in for you, and any questions of the type's own appear. Then the site, the work location, the reason for the request and the PPE required. A window that ends before it starts is refused, and the reason is required. When you submit, the request goes to the type's signatories, who are emailed. We'll cancel this one.
Permit types
Permit types are configurable. Every organisation starts with seven, from hot work to crane lifts. Each type sets its own fields, its default validity, and who signs it. An account administrator edits them under Settings, Permit Types.
The permit page
Open a permit to work it. The page shows its status and window, with Print PDF. Start work stays disabled while anything is blocking it, and the blockers are listed in red. This confined space permit's window has passed, so it says the permit has expired. Print PDF gives you the permit as a document to keep at the job. The header shows the permit number, its type and location, its validity window, and where it stands: here, approved but not started.
Signatories
Signatories come from the permit type. Every nominated person must sign before work can start, and only the person nominated for a slot can sign it. This demonstration permit has no signatories yet, and a permit with no one accountable can't be started.
Isolations
Isolation points record each lock: the point, its type and the lock number. Each is applied with a photo, then verified by a second person, because whoever applied a lock can't verify it. Work can't start until every isolation is verified. Each point moves through four steps: not applied, locked, verified and removed. The person doing each step is taken from who's signed in, and lock photos are kept in private evidence storage. We'll cancel this one.
Close-out
Below are the hazards, controls and PPE, and any supporting documents you attach. When the work is done, close the permit with close-out notes. It can't close while any lock is still on.
Recap
So: request the permit on the web, and the type sets its fields and signatories. Every signatory signs, and every lock is verified by a second person. Work starts only when nothing blocks it, and the permit closes once every lock is off. Next, see the legal register, the management system and the external auditor portal. Every tutorial is on our website, linked on screen now.
